Etran Marine’s self loading / unloading trailer. How it works

Our self loading / unloading trailer gently picks up or puts down your boat using air and
hydraulic pressure from underneath. Its design is in use by the U.S. Navy, Coastguards
and Environmental Agencies. Our trailer can accommodate power and sail boats to 36’
and 8 tons. The only constraint is working area due to the vehicle length of 18.5m so putting it down at the bottom of the garden beside the greenhouse is not an option.

Marking out unloading area with low blocks.

Once in position the air suspension is raised and blocks are built up underneath to almost touch the keel. Notice the gap between the tyres and mudguards with suspension raised. The hydraulic support arms are still in place.

The air suspension is then lowered to rest the keel gently onto the wooden blocks and two transom supports are put in place.

The trailer back gate is opened and swung out.

The hydraulic support arms are retracted. Notice the gap between the tyres and mudguards now that all the boats weight is on the wooden blocks and held upright by the transom supports.

The trailer is now moved slowly forward leaving the boat standing on wooden blocks.

Amidship supports are now added.

The trailer is pulled clear.

The forward supports are put in position.

Boat is set down perfectly with loading being the reverse procedure
